The programme of this training course is composed of highly relevant theoretical input and practical exercises tailored to the realities in the field.

Aim and content: All modules enhance interpersonal skills, stress the importance of active involvement in the host society, and promote a reflective and critical approach. In addition, the IPT Core Course provides an overall picture of the different specific functional tasks needed in a mission and how they are interrelated. Especially for more junior participants the course presents an opportunity to reflect on their own mission readiness and motivation. As part of the course participants will:

  • Train in how to behave in complex risk situations: four-wheel drive training, mine awareness, and field orientation
  • Understand the different types of third party intervention and gain tools necessary for third party interventions
  • Get an overview of key international human rights law and humanitarian law standards
  • Get familiar with the different actors in the field and ways of cooperation with IOs, NGOs, CivPol and military actors

To ensure a varied learning experience we use different modern training methodologies. ASPR's IPT Core Course was awarded the C³MC-label by Europe's New Training Initiative for Civilian Crisis Management (ENTRi). This certificate is awarded only to courses that meet established standards and criteria for training civilian personnel who are to be deployed to crisis management missions.
